I wondered if this might be Cliff-related. Maybe he'll man up one of these days and join us and actually write something. What do you think?
I'm well familiar with the Black Horse. Tough guys. One of the worst fights I've ever been in (there might have been some alcohol involvement, since it was in a bar) was shortly after the 11ACR merged into the Real Cav. Somebody let loose with the old "The horse that nobody rode ..." and the fight was on before he got to part about the color.
Were you army or USAF? I don't want to make any more dumb assumptions, like Army slick = army vet. I was also at Bien Hoa with the 229th AHB, '70-'71. The USAF was a lot better life but they caught all the rockets that only flew over us en route, except for the short rounds. I only had Green Line duty officer duty once, New Year's Eve 1970, and some GI tried to shoot me. That wasn't you, by any chance?
How about writing something for us or tell us what you're reading these days. I'm glad you joined.
You're the first member that I can't immediately ID and that's a VERY good thing. It means our circle is growing beyond family and old friends. I hope you'll spend some time with us here, enjoy (or take issue with) what other members are saying and PLEASE write for us. Write a LOT, if you care to.
Phyllis tells us that she has "not written for more than my own enjoyment." Well, that's exactly what we want to promote here, writing for your own enjoyment. Others - maybe some, maybe all - are going to benefit from your writing. Trust me.
Let's see... an assault slick with a yellow square on the door? Who could that be? My company used a blue circle.
Thanks for joining. I'm looking forward to reading what you have to say, so... WriteNow!
