Everything about the 15 minutes i spent on this platform was exciting, i had ventured down via the "No entry", which is, in theory an entrance your just not aloud to go in that way! As me and my friend Liam peered around the corner to make sure we weren't being watched, we spotted a beautiful sight, the train was something you see in the movies, it was almost like being on the set for a new Lionel Jeffries movie. I wanted to touch it but it was on the otherside of the platform so i couldn't reach it, i had seen this train so many times when i was a little girl, every Saturday my dad would take me swimming and then he would buy me a cone of chips and sit me on the wall so i could watch the train come in, i used to call it Thomas the tank engine, not because i was 8 years old but because close to christmas time they would have an event on where you spent the day on the train and it would stop off at different stations and you could spend an hour or so there. They called it Thomas the tank engine on the flyers but i was always to afraid to go on it!
The platform was deserted and i turned to Liam and said, do you remember that episode of goosebumps ( i have just looked on the website and realised it was called "Escape from Karlsville) where she gets stuck in that model of a village! Liam replied "Karlsville or something like that" Now if you've never seen an episode of Goosbumps, i suggest you watch one, just for the sheer comedy of knowing that at the age of 12 when i would rush home and turn on "Fox kids" they terrified me!....Im talking, 3 O'clock in the morning, my dad gets a knock on his bedroom door "Hmm, dad...Can i get in your bed im scared! If you have not yet seen Goosbumps, you will soon realise that they are "Awfully cheesy horrors" some of the titles consist of " The Blob that ate everything" "How i got my shrunken head" and " The revenge of the lawn Gnomes". The particular episode in question was about a girl who gets stuck inside a deserted toy village and thats exactly what i felt like on the platform. Everything was so perfect, all the chairs were set out exactly inline, the sun was beaming down on us and even the signs had that hand crafted look about them, it was quite eary!
A creeped up and down the platform taking as many snaps as i could, and at one point tiptoed my way towards the very edge, however couldn't quite make it because of that feeling you get when you think that the smallest gust of wind would knock you off the edge and that would be the end of you!
Eventually we had to leave as i spotted, in the distance, some platform patrollers and these are rarely nice guys, however, these particular ones just let our presence blow over their heads and without realising we walked straight past them out of the no entry/ no exit opening! It wasn't until i read the HUGE sign on the wooden gates that i turned to Liam and said, "We weren't even meant to go in that way". I don't know about Liam but i felt a little bit adventurous!
This picture is the best one to describe how i felt that day, and i hope this has given you and insight on how my 15 minutes on this platform felt.
