Hi Chuck~ Thanks for the welcome and the intro to Write Now. I intend to comment on some of those photos, although others need no more that a title. I'm glad to be here among such illustrious personages as yourself, and hope to add something worthwhile.
Howdy Chuck-
This is classic vernacular for "Do not do unto others that which is hateful to you." Mr. Wayne had a delivery that could translate values and emotions into gems.
Although he is remains my favorite cowboy actor, his support of Senator McCarthy's witch-hunts, Nixon's candidacies, and dedicated support of the Viet-Nam War tarnish his star for me. I also have some trouble with his condoning of the genocide of N. America's native population. But none of this shows in his movies. His film persona was a major element in the formation of my view of the U.S. as a great country, and of my duty to it. I still enjoy his movies, but can't quite figure out how he fired the Browning .30 cal MG without a mount. But if anyone could, it would be John Wayne.
See 'yall later- I'm off on a mission to buy used books.
