Writers write ... right here, right now

On the Verge

I’m nearly on the verge
Of being totally in charge
I know it sounds ambitious
But I’m ready to think large

I’ve clipped a dozen articles
From magazines and books
I haven’t got the method yet
But I know just how it looks

Those boxes of photos
Will soon be scrapbooked
There’s at least several thousand
The last time that I looked

But now I have the scrapbooks
And accessories galore
I buy them with great hope
When I’m in the scrapbook store

And I’m on the verge of fitness
Although some workouts I could use
I joined a local health club
And I even bought new shoes

I’m ready to reach out to friends
With encouragement and cheer
I have all the greeting cards
I bought them all last year

I’m on the verge of wisdom
With thoughts both deep and wide
And soon I’ll understand it all
From each and every side

I’m almost in control
Of each and every urge
I may not be a great success
But by God I’m on the verge!

As you can see, this is Edythe's poem. I added it to WriteNow Poetry but I probably should have moved it instead of copy and paste. I'm learning.
That's a great, funny poem. I like it a lot!
Well, I LOVED this. thanks for posting it. I'm going to share it with Tami (maybe I'll wait 'till a little later in the day).

Thanks,

Ransom
I agree with Ransom. I hope you send this to have it published - soon! It's terrific!

I couldn't agree more with those who love Edythe's poem. I am lucky enough to have a volume of her poetry. It's not huge but it is beautiful and I hope you'll see more of it here. I agree that she should publish and that a lot more of you than you might think should publish. Why not? Well, if you're writing for the money, that's one thing. If you're writing for the satisfaction that is another thing entirely.

I think we'll explore publishing "for the rest of us" (we unpublished or barely published writers, that is) here on WriteNow! I mentioned that a bit in a discussion in the WriteNow! lounge. What do you think?

Chuck

If I knew how to close this discussion AND move all the replies to Edythe's new thread about this poem, that's what I'd do. As it is, all I know how to do is ask you to add your comments to her new thread HERE in our poetry section and close this thread to new posts. The only reason for this, really, is to give her the credit she deserves for this lovely poem and not have my name show up on her poem. Wait'll you see what else she's written. You're gonna love it.
