A WriteNow! Monthly Writing Contest?

Would you like to see monthly writing contests on WriteNow?

We have in mind submissions in poetry, fiction and non-fiction, just to keep things simple. Themed contests would alternate with open-theme contests. Judging during the first week of the following month then an announcement of the winners.

Prizes? There should be prizes but start-up websites like WriteNow are chronically short of money. Maybe eventually. Still, there ought to be something tangible. We'll work on it. As for intangible, we can offer a place on a Wall of Honor for monthly winners.

Should we end the year with a grand prize, an honor that could also be recognized in our "Best Of" volume? Yes, that's doable. A little cash could go along with that, I think. Not much, budgets being what they are, but something. Pride of accomplishment is nothing to be sneezed at, either.

Please let me know if you're interested in this idea and especially if you think you'd participate. If we get enough interest we'll start in February. It's probably too late to think about starting in January ... unless you have other thoughts?
